2. AP Exam Prep (free)- This McGraw-Hill AP app allows the user to narrow in on the desired subject out of the many AP subjects. The degree of difficulty of the questions matches the exam. Explanations are also provided, allowign for greater understanding.

3. Short Stories eReader (free)- This app provides a large selection of shor tstories ranging from humor to crime to science fiction. There are similar collections for poetry and essays which I find useful for my classroom.

4. Subtext (free)- This app allows students and teachers to exchange ideas as they read by adding them to the digital version of the book. Quizzes, assignments, and other material may be added to the digital text to extend the depth of collaborative analysis.

5. eNotes (free)- This app allows for easy access to literature study guides for thousands of books. A teacher Q&A is also available.

6. BookCaps Study Guide (free)- This app offers resources for first time readers and refreshers for those who have read the book before. Study guides and lesson plans are also available for various subjects.

8. Can You Name It? (free)- This is an interactive quiz app that tests a variety of subjects. Quizzes can be general, covering a wide range of topics, or specific to a topic or subject.

9. iDeas for Writing ($1.99)- This app is basically an interactive writing workshop. It offers prompts, creative first lines, character creators, title creators, and writing exercises.

10. Essay Writing Guide ($3.99)- This is a reference tool for writers. It offers help with many types of esays, ranging from persuasion to rhetoric. The graphic organizers also provide specific help with thesis statements, tone, diction, organization, and more.

5 Personal Apps
1. SoundHound (free) - This app allows me to hold the speaker up to any song, and it identifies the song title and artist. I really enjoy music, but I am not good at remembering names of songs of artists. This makes it possible for me to find the songs on iTunes by linking directly to it.

2. RTM (Remember the Milk) (free) - This is a list making app. I am able to prioratize the lists and devide them into subjects. Lists can be exported and linked to my calendar so that I am able to get reminders.

3. Shake-A-Phrase ($1.99) - This provides a new phrase every time I shake my iPhone. The phrases are sometimes weird, funny, or insightful. These can be good writing prompts or discussion starters. I use them in the classroom and when hanging out with family and friends.

4. Chase (free) - This is a banking app. I bank with Chase, so this makes it very easy to stay current with my accounts and pay bills on time from anywhere.

5. Cards (free) - This app allows me to create digital greeting cards. It offers a variety of templates, backgrounds, and creation options. Once personalized cards are complete, I am able to upload them to facebook or email them to the recipient. This is very convenient because I like to keep in touch with people but often lack the time to buy cards and mail them.
